Let’s face it: we are a very vain species. Don’t pretend like you don’t look at your reflection when you pass a storefront with a reflective window. Don’t act like you’re not just staring at yourself when you sit at a bar with a mirror behind it.
While having mirrors in the home is a great way for us as a species to continue being obsessed with the way that we look, they actually do provide a couple of other uses. Number one, they are decorative and can be very beautiful with their framing. Number two, if you happen to live in a smaller home, mirrors can give the illusion of more space. If you happen to live in a darker home, mirrors can help refract some more daylight into the space!
But if you’re just a vain Jane and you want mirrors in your living room purely so that you can keep your eyes on yourself at all times, all the power to you. I bet you’re gorgeous. What is life if not seeking out the most beautiful parts of it?
So whatever your intention behind having mirrors in the living room, we’ve created this collection of living rooms featuring large mirrors. I personally love having mirrors in my house, and this just confirms that I’m not the only one!!
1. The Elegant Brass Living Room
Floors & Walls: We’re starting out this mirrored living room collection with a space that shouts class. It all starts with light hardwood flooring decorated with a light purple patterned area rug. From here we have a subdued shade of blue for the walls (have you checked out our Blue Living Room Inspirations?) that has been coupled with a gorgeous white crown molded ceiling and a cream-colored facade around the fireplace.
Features & Furniture: This cozy yet elegant living room features two sofas that look incredibly plush and comfortable, one with dark brown upholstery, and the other with light blue satin upholstery. A simple glass coffee table does a great job of keeping the room feeling open, and small accent tables around the room are essential for lamps and decorations.
Decor: Clearly, the most impactful decorative pieces in this living room are the huge mirrors with ornate brass framing. The way that they are placed allows for sunlight to refract into the room from the window. A huge collection of throw pillows on the sofa adds a nice contrast, while also making the room feel extra inviting.

2. The Heritage Home Living Room
Floors & Walls: So much of interior design these days has to do with successfully combining old heritage with new freshness, and I find that this living room is such an incredible example of that. While the bones of the space are antique perfection, the furnishings elevate it to a contemporary place.
This all starts with absolutely stunning herringbone patterned hardwood floors (they simply don’t make them like that anymore, and it’s a real shame). The walls and ceiling are truly pieces of art, all on their own with crown molding and incredibly ornate detailing. In this case, it actually looks like the mirror was built into the fireplace facade, which makes the entire room all the more impressive.
Features & Furniture: This classic and stylish living room features a wonderful leather sofa with super deep seats and back cushions, and it matches wonderfully with the white leather lounger beside it. I admire the choice of the midcentury modern nesting glass coffee tables not only for their obvious style but the fact that the glass tops make it so that none of the beautiful herringbone floors is covered up.
Decor: The sheer construction of this room is so gorgeous that it really doesn’t need much else in order for it to feel its most beautiful. All that is extra is some colorful and patterned throw pillows, potted plants, and a strangely shaped accent table in the back.
3. The Mirror Fireplace Living Room
Floors & Walls: I really appreciate how this room combines some cottage core charm but with an oddly modern twist. This room features beautiful bricklay in front of the fireplace, while the rest of the room has dark hardwood floors.
Almost like a sunroom, this space has panoramic windows in all directions with white trim. I find how mirrors are used in this room so clever! Using multiple mirrors around the fireplace facade makes it look incredibly chic and as wall decor, they do a great job of making an already bright room look even brighter!
Features & Furniture: I think that this furniture set is so adorable. This is such a traditional suburban look, to have super plush sofas and chairs with a matching ottoman. Though some may say it’s outdated, I personally think that the upholstery is adorable.
Decor: The decorations in this room are very suitable, considering that all of the furniture pieces have a bright pattern on them. Happy potted plants and sweet little statues lay around the room, making it feel cultured and lived in.
4. The Modern City Living Room
Floors & Walls: While the small mirror in this room isn’t exactly the focal point, this room was just so sleek that I figured it had to be included in the collection. Brand new hardwood floors in a gorgeous shade adorn the floors, while crisp white walls guide us up to an exposed foundational ceiling – which is a very industrial-inspired look. Black framed windows provide a really chic contrast.
Features & Furniture: Surrounding this modern fireplace mantle is a gorgeous cream leather sofa with modern metal framing and a matching ottoman. Matching dark brown leather chairs sit across from an open window, and a chic glass-top coffee table pulls it all together.
Decor: In my opinion, a room is completely complete if it has plants. Whether those plants are alive or dried, having living things in a room will always make it feel better. Dried eucalyptus and dried ornamental grass and sticks is a great way to incorporate life and texture into a space without having to care for living plants if you don’t have the interest or time to.
5. The Regal Purple Living Room
Floors & Walls: Wowza! If this living room doesn’t make you gasp, I don’t really know what will. I also don’t really know the purpose of this room as the arrangement of furniture is rather odd, but come to think of it, it may be lovely for a cocktail party.
This exceptional sunroom-style living starts with light gray hardwood floors that have been adorned with a beautiful purple area rug that’s almost the size of the entire room. Floor-to-ceiling windows in every direction make the room feel expansive and heavenly.
Features & Furniture: This two-part living room features one area with a plush and highly luxurious looking sofas with rivets, and if front of this long couch, we have three circular wooden pieces that are either ottomans or stools.
The main area of the room is a set of six very low accent chairs in camel-colored upholstery, all surrounding a stand with a statue on it. Again, a beautiful room, but I am not exactly sure what the intention behind it is.
Decor: This frameless mirror in particular, is not needed to make the room bigger since it isn’t already enormous, and it’s not needed to make it bright because it’s already a sunroom. So THAT means (especially because of the way that it’s slanted) it’s a vanity mirror for looking at yourself while sitting in a circle talking about this strange statue. Naturally.
6. The Country Cottage Living Room
Floors & Walls: This cottage core living room is giving me LIFE right now. It’s so adorable and classic and it’s the exact type of place I would like to read a book at the end of a long day on the lake. This room starts with subtly patterned carpeting, with beautiful bucolic wallpaper and white trim. A vaulted ceiling is a nice added touch.
Features & Furniture: I absolutely love to see it when designers aren’t too afraid to use pattern for visual interest. Nowadays, everyone has such a focus on things that are modern and minimal, so it’s always a real treat to see a room that isn’t afraid to have a bit of fun.
This furniture set features a very plush and welcoming-looking sofa with green and white striped upholstery. A lounge chair has an absolutely glorious vintage green vining pattern on it. The credenza in the back and this square coffee table both possess a similar distressed look to them. Very cottage core!
Decor: I really appreciate how the main features of the room themselves are so decorative that it would be entirely too much if there were anything more. Beautifully bright throw pillows, floral wallpaper and curtains, and a golden lampshade chandelier all come together to create something marvelously charming. The rectangular mirror is placed perfectly to almost make it look like an extra entranceway alongside the French doors on either side of it.

7. The Sectional Living Room
Floors & Walls: Completely switching gears with this living space. While it’s not completely my preferred style, you can appreciate the overall design and function of this living room space. First off, the floor is covered with a caramel-colored carpet with a patterned gray rug above it. Gray makes an appearance again on the walls, while cream coffered ceilings give us a break from the light gray.
Features & Furniture: I love me a giant couch, and we get one here with this absolutely enormous L-shaped sofa that’s upholstered in light gray leather. A robin’s egg blue ottoman with silver studs sits in the middle.
Decor: The color scheme is very on point in this room, with the throw pillows matching the color of the ottoman and the shades in the diptych paintings. While the room is already quite spacious, the mirrored wall behind the L-shaped sofa makes the room feel even more elongated.

8. The Classic Tartan Living Room
Floors & Walls: This reminds me of the living room that you would see if you had a therapist that was really cool and you went to see them at their cool house. This beautiful space has hardwood floors that have been protected with a light gray rug (I would remove this to be perfectly honest) and deep blue walls with a white ceiling. Huge windows are lined with black framing.
Features & Furniture: This sweet and quaint living room features a set of beautiful lounge chairs covered with blue tartan upholstery, a brown leather ottoman with golden studs, and a loveseat in soft brown upholstery. A rustic accent table with a live edge top and iron framing is a kitschy touch.
Decor: This room becomes so bright thanks to those amazing lemon-yellow curtains and an enormous mirror with dark brown framing. Sweet lamps around the room are the perfect understated choice, while a happy orchid brings that bit of life we love.

9. The Sunny Living Room
Floors & Walls: This adorable little living room is the exact type of room you’d have if you are a mixologist and also read Jane Austen all the time, you know what I mean? Maybe not, but needless to say a person of great interest lives here.
This glorious room starts with antique hardwood floors, beautiful ceilings with exposed foundational beams, and walls that have the upper adorned with winged bird wallpaper. This space is bright, happy, and inviting.
Features & Furniture: Having a combined living room and office is such a good way to utilize a space if you have one large room, but not two smaller ones. The office in the corner features a beautiful wooden desk with a mirror set above it and a comfortable-looking chair with a fur hide sitting on top of it.
The living room portion of the house features a gorgeous Chesterfield-style couch with super deep seats and high arms. This is the type of sofa that you can just sink in to. I also adore the clear glass coffee table sitting in front of it.
Decor: This room is just so playful. For starters, this enormous brass framed mirror is just gorgeous, and potted plants around the room bring a beautiful level of life. A bohemian rug really warms everything up, while simple lighting allows the rest of the space to shine.
This wonderful living room design is from Caroline Sharpnack.
10. The Grand Room Living Room
Floors & Walls: Wow. There’s no denying that this is a very special living. This is what I imagine a brownstone looks like on the inside. There is so much heritage that has been maintained in this home, and that’s a practice I think that should really be held on to.
This glorious living room starts with antique hardwood floors that have been decorated with a remarkably large patterned area rug (surely a family heirloom). High ceilings are adorned with incredible ornate crown molding, while walls feature gorgeous trim.
Features & Furniture: Very minimal furniture has been incorporated into this grand room in the form of sofas with very low backs – this is a cool way to make sure that the room remains open. An ovular, clear glass coffee table sits between it all, with neat little accent chairs scattered throughout the room.
Decor: The room is so beautiful, just in its pure construction, that the walls and ceiling are decoration enough. But that didn’t stop the designer from adding a very extravagant chandelier in the center of the room, a wall mirror over the fireplace, sweet vases of flowers, and various little statues around the room.
This amazing interior was designed by JP Warren Interiors.
11. The Black & Gold Living Room
Floors & Walls: Yet another very fancy room that can simultaneously be very inviting all at the same time. Hardwood floors are decorated with an almost inflated paisley pattern area rug, while brick walls are cornered with one wall created from a black backsplash and a set of three gorgeous mirrors with arched tops.
Features & Furniture: Beautiful and elegant black furniture sits around this luxurious living room in the form of four black velour accent chairs with silver studs, and a black leather ottoman bench. A clear glass coffee table sits in the middle of the room and acts as a wonderful bright counterpart to the darker pieces.
Decor: This beautiful room comes decorated with a set of beautiful gold vases and candle holders, lovely table lamps with metallic bases, a painting of horses on the wall, and a happy and big tree sitting in the corner. A lovely room indeed!
This special space was designed by Hollis interiors.
12. The Bohemian Corner Living Room
Floors & Walls: We’re finishing off this collection with a room that is refreshingly bohemian when so much of the group has had rooms that are remarkably extravagant and fancy. This beautiful room has a gorgeous Persian rug adorning the floor, with bright blue walls. Where things get really interesting is with the incredible painted ceiling with bright colors and interesting shapes.
Features & Furniture: This amazing living room has living room furniture that’s cleverly built right into the wall. Wood panels act as the back of the sofa, while stacked cushions act as the couch portion of the room. Sweet little stands can be brought right up to the couch and used as little drink trays.
Decor: Mirrors are being used differently in this room, where instead of providing an extra way to refract light or a way to make the room bigger, they’re being used purely as decorative mirrors all on their own. This mosaic creates a lovely bohemian feeling; the golden-painted paper lanterns are rather charming, and the throw pillows mirror some of the patterns seen on the ceiling. This is a truly special space.
