What We Like About the Property
If you want to truly live like a baller, then this house will make that dream a reality. Not only was it home to NBA star Carlos Boozer, but it’s had a fair share of Hollywood elite, from Elizabeth Taylor to the Purple One himself, Prince. Boozer actually leased the house from Prince in 2004, shortly after signing to the Utah Jazz.
This estate has everything you’d envision for a swank L.A. mansion. First of all, we love the views from the roof, where you can hang out, host a party, or play some tennis. On clear days, you can even see the ocean far off in the distance.
Second, we adore the classic architectural style of both properties. Yes, you get a twofer special with this home – the 15,000-square-foot main building and a 3,300-square foot guest home. The guest house is in the English Tudor style, which should be more than comfortable for any visitors who wish to spend the night. The whole estate is decked out with palm trees and natural embellishments, making it feel like you’re secluded – even though downtown L.A. is just a couple of miles away.
No baller mansion is complete without a pool, and this one is designed to resemble a grotto, with a covered bar, built-in slide, and stone accents. Overall, you have plenty of space for yourself, your family, and a few dozen of your closest friends. According to the seller, Prince hosted a couple of concerts here over the years he owned it.
A Home Fit for Prince
You can’t be a music lover without knowing at least a little bit about Prince. The artist was incredibly talented and highly prolific, producing music throughout the 80s and 90s. If there was an instrument to be played, Prince learned how to play it. As far as icons go, Prince is one of the all-time greats, up there with Michael Jackson, Elvis, and Madonna.
As amazing an entertainer as Prince was, he was also something of a practical joker. Part of what makes this home so famous was when he did some “light” remodeling while Boozer was away in Utah. According to the story, Prince removed all of Boozer’s belongings and painted the whole property in purple and black stripes. It was fitting since purple was Prince’s favorite color, and it’s one of the colors of the Utah Jazz.
Thankfully, Prince was a good sport about the whole thing and changed everything back once Boozer discovered the prank. The two remained friends until Prince died in 2016. Even when pranking, Prince was always one to go big and bold.
