Welcome to our gallery featuring a little girl’s room full of wonder and whimsy, designed by Candice Olson Design and photographed by Brandon Barré.
Brandon Barré is a North America based commercial photographer who is most passionate about shooting food, interior designs, and portraits.
Candice Olson is the host of Divine Design on HGTV, and describes her design style as classic design reinterpreted. Her designs employ clean lines and a mixture of traditional and contemporary style. Her designs are current, yet timeless; fresh, yet familiar.
This elegant girl’s room is chock full of wonderful details, including nods to Lewis Carroll’s Alice In Wonderland. The furniture is dainty enough for a young child, yet large enough for her to grow into. The bed is large for a small child, but will be perfect for a teenager or young adult.
Perhaps my favorite detail is the ceiling. Look for the script spiraling around the floral light fixture, a custom piece that embodies the whimsy of the room.
We hope you’ll enjoy this absolutely stunning room!
The whole of the bedroom is full of whimsy, soft textures, and bright colors. While the current decor is for a very young girl, the built-in desk, memo board, and large bed means there’s room to grow without purchasing a whole new bedroom set.
A close-up of the large desk with glass pulls and lots of shelving. The main workspace is large enough to accommodate a computer at a later date, and the height is enough to grow in. The back of the desk is wallpapered in a pretty cream stylized floral pattern.
The rich hardwood flooring is covered by a soft, faux fur rug in taupe. Adorable felted goats are positioned in front of the sizable closet, next to a side table topped by vintage prints in gilded frames.
A close-up of the side table in taupe, with vintage luggage stacked beneath it as decoration. Alice In Wonderland prints hang above the table, and next to it is a series of floral hangers.
The large floral hangers are in ivory, and will be large enough to hold larger items of clothing as the little girl grows up.
A fabric-covered board with criss-crossing ribbons in an ornate mirror frame makes a lovely memo board. It sits behind a distressed miniature dining set perfect for tea parties with the bin of stuffed animals to the left.
The circular section inside the trim has a spiraling passage from Alice In Wonderland that gets smaller the closer it gets to the unique light fixture. The light fixture has vines, flower buds and small lights designed to look like flowers.
The button-tufted headboard is nice and soft, and complements the bolder paisley, pink checkered, olive, and felt bedding nicely. The paisley pillows match the fabric of the curtains.
The soft bench in magenta and white polka dots is a mix of traditional design and contemporary. The style of the bench is very traditional, while the bright color and polka dots are more common to contemporary design.
