The Byron Bay Hinterland treats residents to stunning vistas and beautiful surroundings. However, poorly designed homes will force the owners inside to avoid windy conditions.

Working with a Byron Hinterland architect, the owners of this property designed a home that allows them to enjoy the outdoors regardless of the weather. The result is a dwelling that works with the surroundings instead of challenging them.

The client brief was to design a house that captured the beauty of the landscape, capitalising on the Byron Bay hinterland and ocean views. The clients wanted to feel connected to their surroundings and to make the most of the outside so they can entertain, even on windy days.

Leveraging our experience designing Byron Hinterland houses, Zaher Architects created a house that feels transparent by providing a seamless connection between the front and back of the house as well as opening up to the views.

On beautiful days, the owners can sit on the eastern side of the house and look out over the ocean and the landscape. When it is windy, they can sit on the western side by the pool and bathe in the sun while being sheltered from the wind.
