Legendary star Doris Day’s home, which she lived in for forty years, was sold for $5.7 million after it was listed for $7.4 million. Doris went big when building this home as the property has not one –but three– structures on it totaling an impressive 12,400 square feet! In total, the whole property has six bedrooms and up to nine bathrooms – who would not dream of living in a house like that?

The house is situated on land that’s nine acres in size with stunning views of the Carmel Valley that would make anyone who lives there feel like they’re in paradise. The magnificent views in this area have captured the attention of many actors, writers, and artists for decades.  This beautiful home stands out with its bright yellow paint, which is balanced by 7,000 square feet of stones scattered throughout the structure.

It also has multiple terraces and balconies to enjoy the property’s breathtaking views. Ms. Day’s fabulous house has shades of yellow and beige on the interior, with furniture pieces that are mostly white – perfect for low-profile traditionalists who like to keep things simple. Stones are also a huge feature inside the home’s walls and floors – giving it an incredibly retro feel. 

Ms. Day added a bit of interest to certain rooms by painting the walls a bold red color, which matches the modern red-colored furniture. This combination takes the look of the whole space to another level. The primary bedroom is quite spacious yet cozy.

This room is big enough for a complete sofa set to lounge around on before going to bed and it’s adorned by a huge fireplace. This is an especially lovely feature for a Los Angeles home, considering that newly constructed homes are no longer allowed to have fireplaces. As mentioned earlier, the property has three structures: a guest house and a gatehouse.

The gatehouse has two apartments with beautifully appointed decor. The most striking feature of the entire property is its unique design. It focuses more on comfort rather than being trendy, yet it still looks stylish and up to date.

The fact that the property has so many different structures is quite genius and guarantees that anyone who lives there has ample freedom and roaming space. I also like how this house has numerous windows through which to bring in natural light while enjoying the amazing views. Cincinnati-born Doris Day’s incredible voice and acting skills are what catapulted her to fame at the height of Hollywood’s Golden Era.

She was one of the most popular singers and actresses in the 1950s and 1960s. Ms. Day recorded multiple Christmas albums, 600 songs, and she appeared in 39 films before retiring at the age of 51.
