If you’re dealing with a cramped, small closet, then YouTube has tons of great ideas to help you find a solution. One YouTuber, aspenackley, came up with a super creative way to update a small hall closet and turn it into a stylish and functional mudroom. While this process might be a tad difficult for some DIYers, it’s totally possible if you have the time and patience to make it happen.
The result of this closet makeover is stunning and creates not only a highly functional space in the hallway but also one that looks extremely stylish, too.

An upper shelf was added to the interior and beautiful woven baskets were placed on top of the shelf for more hidden storage. And as if that wasn’t enough, he also made the bench area a storage space for shoes that can easily open and close by lifting the seat. This provides for a neat and tidy hallway that the entire family will love. To make things even better, this talented YouTuber also added a motion sensor light inside of the new space so that it turns on and off automatically.
One commenter was excited about the prospect of the video maker doing the same thing for their home, saying, “Y’all need to start a business. My wardrobe is a decent size and we need to get shelves and stuff like that. You guys could spend 2k to come to Australia and build my wardrobe, right?”
Several other people mentioned how nice it looked and what an awesome job he did.
I don’t have a small hall closet like this, but I do know one thing: If I did, I would definitely consider doing a project like this. The arched top just adds a beautiful touch, and the board and batten detailing helps tie it all together. Now, the real trick would be whether or not you can remember to hang things back up and put your shoes inside of the bench every time you come home!
