A Legendary Location
The Clint Eastwood film Unforgiven was released in 1992 to massive critical acclaim. In fact, the movie was selected to be preserved in the Library of Congress National Film Registry and won many prestigious awards. The film had a budget of just $14.4 million and grossed an incredible $159 million when it was released. Not only was the film a wild success, but at the time, Clint Eastwood said it would be his final Western.
Set in the town of Big Whiskey, the filming location is now for sale. It features a fully preserved estate called the Ranch at Fisher Creek. Many stars were hosted here during the filming of the movie, including Eastwood himself, Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman, and other celebrities.
The Ranch at Fisher Creek is located on 480 acres with a massive main lodge, several separate guest cabins, an indoor equestrian area, and a beautiful lake with a working boathouse. All of this is in addition to the actual movie set itself. The buyer of this ranch will also receive a Wild West town featuring a sheriff’s office with two jail cells, a saloon with a full-service bar and attached gambling hall, and a blacksmith shop.
The “town” also includes a livery and stables, a “bank,” and a carpentry shop. The ranch’s current owners also built a white church with a bell tower and a mercantile, and each building is completely functional and habitable. This Western town is more than just a set designed for filming movies – it’s also a real, usable space to be enjoyed.
Breathtaking Features Abound
The buyer of the Ranch at Fisher Creek will be treated to stunning views of the Rocky Mountains. The main lodge is constructed of massive wood logs with steel and stone that give it a rustic, rugged aesthetic. Inside, the living space includes five bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, seven fireplaces, and a stunning grand dining room.
The six guest cabins are connected to the main lodge and can be reached via elevated walkways that gracefully wind through the grounds. The units are divided into 17 suites that can be used by guests, and friends, or even operated as a tourist destination (such as a hotel or Air BnB). A gorgeous 11-acre lake is also included with a waterfall and private boathouse that can be enjoyed for fishing, fun, and for breeding rainbow trout.
If you’re a horse lover, you’ll definitely want to take advantage of the five-stall stable with an indoor equestrian area and a high-quality riding hall that includes a viewing lounge and veterinarian’s office.
Anyone who appreciates nature, riding horses, and relaxing will certainly appreciate this sprawling estate. Not only is the ranch filled with high-end details and lots of open space, but it’s also located in close proximity to the breathtaking Banff National Park as well as many other local parks and about an hour’s drive from Calgary. Those who adore mountain views and the Wild West will absolutely appreciate the many details of this famous ranch.
