In the architecture of single-family homes, the great challenge revolves around making the dwelling suitable for a family. In Casa do Lago (Lake house) this task is multiplied by three.
Three friends contacted the office with the task of building a country house that would serve families at different or congruent times of use.
The terrain has 2760.36m² with a 4m slope towards a lake, which directed the project to be worked in an elevated way and aligned to the higher levels of the terrain. For this, the main volume is supported by a stone prop, which sustains the mixed structure that forms the single floor of the residence.
The use of a metallic structure in the social area of the house allowed the conception of a free span that crosses the entire blade, where the butterfly type Glulam (Glued Laminated Timber) roof rests, which together with the floor and ceiling frames, washes the social area with natural light and ventilation.
The intimate area, composed of 8 bedrooms, encloses the social area to the center of the land and is marked by the use of wood frames that close completely to guarantee privacy, and when open they provide a view of beautiful gardens that promote biophilia beyond the view of the lake.
