Welcome to our gallery featuring the beautiful Sunflower House designed by Cadaval & Solà-Morales.
This incredible modern home is located in Port De la Selva in Girona, Spain.
The warm Mediterranean sea is within view of the enormous panoramic windows located in every single room. The home is nestled on a terraced hillside, with decking all around the home, leading down into a large infinity pool.
The home’s location, although beautiful and close to the water, is also subject to strong winds and is heavily shaded.
In order to take full advantage of the home’s views, each room is positioned so that no matter where the homeowners are, they have an incredible view.
The designers tackled the issue of the home not getting any direct sunlight by designing it to be a solar collector, bringing light and heat into the home, hence the name “Sunflower.”

The rear of the home features the most stunning exterior, showing the cube-like structure of the home, with each section punctuated by an enormous panoramic window. The angle of each cube ensures that every window’s view is unique.
From further away, we can see just how close the home is to the water, perched atop a rocky coast overlooking the Mediterranean.
Upon entering the home, guests are greeted by an open-concept space on the second floor, and a large staircase leading down to the common areas of the home.
Taking a right off of the stairs leads us into the spacious, minimalist living room, complete with a simple raised wood-burning fireplace. Butterfly chairs and a leather sofa are positioned for an optimal view.
One of the cubes juts out from the main living area and contains a large dining table. The whole of the space is utterly undecorated, allowing the stunning views to take precedent. To the left we can see the sliding glass doors that provide access to the patio and pool area.
A straight-on view of the dining room shows just how stark the room would be without the view.
As we move back towards the stairs, we can see the nook at the bottom of the stairs that serves as an additional seating area or a place to enjoy the view even when the weather outside is less than desirable.
A single pendant light hangs from the center of the room, at the perfect height for the owners to reach up to turn it on or off.
To the left of the stairs is the kitchen area, which features a small eat-in breakfast bar with red barstools. A single plant adds organic flavor to the space.
After heading back up the stairs to the foyer, we turn around to look back down the narrow space to the seating area below. To the right we can see the hallway above the living room.
A glass-railing runs along the hallways above the two-story living room area, and into the bedrooms on the other side. Even the hallways have incredible views.
As we move along the hallway, we see a single glass-paneled door that leads out onto the upper terrace of the home.
We enter one of the home’s minimalist bedrooms, which also features a glass-paneled door that leads outside. Storage is kept behind the bed so that it doesn’t obstruct the view of the craggy coast.
Moving behind the bed, we can see the storage dresser that serves a second purpose as a headboard. The only decoration are two small houseplants.
From this side of the bed we can see the entrance to the room’s private bathroom. Each of the home’s bedrooms has a private bathroom.
We move outside to the infinity pool. The appeal of an infinity pool is perfectly illustrated by this image. The pool appears to continue over the edge and onto the horizon.
We end with a final image of the home’s exterior, showing the cubes on the left side of the home and the expansive backyard patio.
